Đejmi Hadrović works with performances of patriarchal, traditional, rural, regressed civilisation, both mystical and frightening Balkans. Balkans mainly represents the traditional principles of manhood with an almost complete absence of women. Artist presents a Bosnian woman as a woman who holds triumph of a survival and not only a victim of patriarchy. Balkan presents as the antithesis of everything that means contemporary: guided not by reason, but emotions such as hatred. With her work she does not neglect the main characteristics that still dominate her cultural habitus but at the same time she gives a chance a new perspective of new generations arising with different life values and point of views.
Đejmi's artwork is inspired by culture in all its semantic. The topic of her interest covers cultural constructs that society creates and it is always playing with its taboos, stigmatisation and cultural handicap which she is applying into her art practice. Artists constant intention through her art opus is to demolish social norms and conventions. She is establishing her artwork through media of video, photography, and performance. Đejmi Hadrović is an active member of art collective V.A.T. and organiser of Kino cabaret short film festival in Linz. She is collaborating within cultural Institution in its project “Trbovlje New Media Setting” and New Media Art festival Speculum Artium.
